Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated General Catering Assistant to join our night shift team in Kingston upon Hull United Kingdom. This role is crucial in supporting our catering operations during night hours ensuring high-quality food service and maintaining a clean efficient kitchen environment.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of food items according to menu specifications and dietary requirements
- Operate and maintain various kitchen equipment ensuring proper use and cleanliness
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards keeping the kitchen and food service areas spotless
- Support the kitchen team in stock rotation inventory management and food storage
- Assist with the set-up and breakdown of catering events or food service areas
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during night shifts
- Respond promptly and courteously to customer queries or special requests
- Maintain a tidy and organised workspace following all health and safety guidelines
Qualifications :
- Proven experience in food handling and preparation techniques
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
- Basic numeracy skills for inventory management and portioning
- Excellent time keeping abilities and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Flexibility to work night shifts and occasional weekends or holidays
- Food hygiene certificate is desirable
- Previous experience in catering or food service is preferred but not essential
