Job Summary

Elementary Educational Paraprofessional (DPIA)

Position Description: Responsible for small group high dosage tutoring in math and reading at basic elementary level. Responsible for performing a variety of duties; offers assistance and support to the staff in carrying out the objectives of the educational program in the school; performs related duties as assigned. This position is funded by Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aid and is contingent upon continued funding from the state.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience working with students and teachers on academic content standards
Experience working with students and teachers on grade level proficiency tests
Possession of a valid State of Ohio Educational Aide Permit with ESEA Credential

Reports To: Building Principal

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Desired: General knowledge of English grammar spelling and punctuation; general knowledge of basic mathematics; Proficient in Microsoft Office; Skill in exercising tact and discretion when communicating with students parents teachers administrators and support staff; Ability to perform oral reading to students individually or in groups; Ability to interact with students to maintain discipline order and resolve disciplinary problems; Ability to assist students with various physical and intellectual needs; Ability to handle behavioral situations in a calm and effective manner; Ability to maintain accurate records and write reports and logs; Ability to lift boxes of supplies and books; Ability to bend stoop and reach.
