POSITION SUMMARY
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for the overall assessment of the manufacturing process and mechanical integrity of products to ensure that they meet or exceed the company and customers expectations. The major focus of this role will be on identification and implementation of automation for the current manufacturing environment applying lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement (design and process improvements).
CORE FUNCTIONS
Lead the design and implementation of automation for existing and future production lines. This includes a detailed business case definition of equipment needed and tracking the performance of the implemented solution for improved efficiency.
Troubleshoot and modify automation equipment and programming as needed for continued operational success and minimal downtime. As well as injection molding equipment (mechanical and electrical-related issues).
Work with cross functional teams to ensure design of manufacturability (DFM) and design for automation (DFA).
Identify and conduct Lean Manufacturing techniques on existing processes and work cells to improve safety quality efficiency and lower manufacturing costs through industry best practices and advanced automation.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or other related Engineering degree is required.
3 years of related experience is required.

Travel
Occasional travel may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
Working Conditions
The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions including heat noise and vibrations from a production-based environment.
