About the role

WA System Engineering is responsible for power system analysis modelling and reporting to ensure short- to medium-term security reliability and resilience of the SWIS considering the rapid energy transition.

Your role will involve the provision of engineering foresight and services in all aspects of system transition challenges and opportunities for a sustainable energy future.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and maintain foundational knowledge of the South-West Interconnected System (SWIS) focusing on transmission system limitations such as thermal ratings voltage stability and oscillatory stability.
  • Build understanding of the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Dispatch Engine (DE/WEMDE) Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
  • Support the development and maintenance of Constraint Equations to represent network congestion and ensure secure SWIS operation across planning horizons.
  • Assist in reviewing and improving Constraint Equation performance through event investigations statistical analysis and process enhancements
  • Collaborate with internal teams and respond to technical queries related to network congestion and Constraint Equations under guidance from senior staff.

What you will bring to the role

  • Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to power systems analysis with experience in the Energy sector.
  • Familiarity with power system modelling and analysis tools such as DIgSILENT and PSCAD.
  • Foundational programming skills particularly in Python with an interest in developing automation and analytical tools.
  • Understanding of core electrical engineering principles related to electricity generation transmission system theory and modelling.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to produce clear structured technical documentation for varied audiences.
