About the role
Were pleased to invite applications for the position of System Safety Engineer. Based in either Saabs Mawson Lakes or Hawthorn office (SA and VIC respectively) you will to work under the direction of our senior safety engineers to design and implement solutions that meet rigorous safety and engineering standards.
System Safety is a specialist discipline prominent in high end industries i.e. Defence Aerospace and Rail. It requires someone who can apply technical knowhow critically evaluate design options and negotiate trade-offs. You will be required to support our Hardware and Software departments to enhance the safety of our products. Previous experience as a safety engineer is not mandatory however you must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in safety engineering.
As part of your specific responsibilities you will:
- Evaluate our hardware and software products to identify and manage hazards;
- Evaluate and participate in product testing to ensure our product is safe;
- Prepare and maintain safety artefacts;
- Participate in working groups including those involving our customers; and
- Engage in community activities which promote safety in our organisation.
This role comes with training and mentoring it will suit someone looking to specialise as a System Safety Engineer or someone seeking a highly technical analysis driven engineering position.

About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- The ability to solve problems in a respectful and positive way.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- The ability to apply sound engineering practices to identify problems derive solutions and implement solutions.
- Able to manage multiple task simultaneously.
- Able to work with others in a team environment.
Qualification:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience in defence or related industries is desirable but not essential.

As Defence security clearance is required for this role applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
