We have the unique opportunity for Vice-President Commodities Sales to join our Energy Origination group in North America. The broad mandate to grow market share in Commodities will require the candidate to utilize knowledge of physical and financial energy markets to originate structure and execute energy derivative and financing transactions for BMOs Corporate and Commercial client base. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge sales acumen and market insight to develop and execute strategic sales initiatives while structuring deals to meet the needs of our clients and the firm. The candidate also identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients and implements positive change within the business unit. Responsibilities will include direct client coverage as well as broader desk support around business development and origination opportunities.

Group Overview

The Commodities Origination group is a team within Global Markets Global Origination business responsible for managing and executing energy commodity hedging and financing transactions for BMOs investor corporate and commercial clients. Working closely with the Commodities Trading Team as well as internal banking partners the Commodity Sales team serves as product experts across the energy commodity universe spanning derivative products financing structures and physical commodity optimization.

Key Areas of Accountability

Skills:

• Minimum 5 years financial market client-focused experience cultivating relationships and managing transaction flow
• Ability to proactively and independently develop professional relationships leveraging deep understanding of client needs to proactively tailor risk management or optimization solutions
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including listening understanding and responding to internal and external inquiries
• Expertise in financial computer applications including MS Excel VBA and Bloomberg. Strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office products.
• Able to exercise independent thought and judgment under limited supervision and to adapt to new tasks with little notice
• Creative insightful and able to conceptualize market and client dynamics into unique risk management and financing solutions

Knowledge:

• Demonstrates strong knowledge and interest in financial and energy markets
• Thorough knowledge of derivatives including options
• Knowledge of banking and risk concepts as well as derivative regulations
• Current on existing and emerging global energy industry trends
• Relevant experience and passion for working in a direct client coverage role providing comprehensive account coverage as well as business development to identify and cultivate growth opportunities
• Proven track-record of successful outcomes and deep client relationships

Transaction Modelling & Financial Analysis:

• Demonstrated track record of attention to detail in a fast-paced professional environment
• Experience pricing and executing financial market transactions
• Use abilities in financial and fundamental analysis to communicate effectively and succinctly with Commodity Trading team and clients to facilitate transactions
• Develop marketing ideas and help initiate transactions through appropriate presentation of data
• Understand all software systems for pricing transactions
• Assist in development and maintenance of fundamental models as well as client presentation materials

Collaboration:

• Be a strong partner within the Commodities Origination team to share market information and solve problems
• Build relationships with product partners across Global Markets to provide/solicit cross-product mandates for new opportunities
• Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through strong cross-department coordination with internal stakeholders in:

The above represents BMO Financial Groups pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
