At OGT Energy we are a nimble and growing energy company playing a key role in Australias domestic gas supply and energy transition.
OGT Energy is a new organisation with deep experience in the provision of conventional gas. Our vision is to provide a dependable gas supply assisting energy reliability while exploring innovative uses of our gas fields and infrastructure in support of the energy transition. Our assets have a long-term future supporting a reliable gas supply for the Australian domestic market and Queenslands energy transition.
We supply gas from our conventional gas fields to the Australian domestic market from our recently acquired Silver Springs Churchie and Wallumbilla LPG Plants in Queenslands Surat / Bowen Basin. Sales gas LPG and oil produced from our fields is processed at our Wallumbilla LPG plant for delivery to Australian consumers. We are exploring additional ways to leverage our assets to support the energy transition including by providing open access to others to our processing facilities and by storing gas to be available for standby generation in times of low renewable generation.

The opportunity
This part-time Brisbane-based role (2 to 3 days per week days negotiable) reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Youll oversee environmental compliance and performance across OGT Energys operations and assets ensuring the business continues to meet its regulatory obligations while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in environmental management.
Youll work alongside a passionate and experienced team supported by external consultants and cross-functional colleagues and travel to our operational sites at your discretion.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation licences and regulatory reporting requirements with support from external consultants.
Manage environmental approvals and permitting processes for exploration development and operations.
Monitor and report on environmental performance including preparation of regulatory submissions.
Provide technical advice to minimise environmental risk across emissions biodiversity waste land use and water management.
Coordinate responses to environmental audits inspections and regulator inquiries.
Promote environmental awareness across the workforce through training and engagement activities.
Support site teams during project planning and execution to ensure environmental compliance.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve environmental performance and sustainability outcomes.
About you
Youre a practical solutions-focused advisor whos confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels and experienced in managing environmental responsibilities in complex operational settings. Youll bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 3 years experience in an environmental role ideally in upstream oil & gas or similar.
Strong knowledge of Queensland and federal environmental legislation.
Experience with environmental compliance reporting risk assessments and approvals processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence others.
A manual drivers licence and willingness to travel regularly to site.
A proactive adaptable and collaborative approach in a dynamic team environment.
Highly regarded:
Experience with greenhouse gas reporting and emissions management.
Experience in environmental auditing and stakeholder engagement.
Familiarity with environmental monitoring programs and incident investigations.
