Under the direction of the Manager of Maintenance and Operations the Coordinator of Plant Operations is responsible for facility operations including waste and recycling regulatory water testing community use of schools snow removal grounds maintenance custodial supply tender custodial training and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Description:
Manage the Boards Custodial Supply Tender.
Planning and facilitating the annual lead in water testing program to ensure Drinking Water Regulatory compliance (O. Reg 243/07)
Provide input into the creation of various tenders such as OCSB waste and recycling snow removal sweeping grass maintenance and pest control and administer the tender once awarded
Review contractor compliance approve invoices provide guidance and feedback to contractors address issues
Administer OCSB Community Use of School (CUS) portfolio including evaluating current pricing model and making recommendations represent the Board on CUS provincial groups liaise with CUS partners and the Continuing Education Department for summer and holiday programs as well as review and set CUS guidelines rules and regulations
Develop plan and implement school renewal projects such as the flooring replacement and painting portfolio
Provide input for departmental budget preparation and administer approved budgets
Represent the planning and facilities department on various OCSB central committees
Develop and deliver professional development opportunities for caretaking staff and ensure custodial staff are trained in facilities/building operations and maintenance health and safety WHMIS asbestos associated record management and other job-related activities
Develop and maintain custodial and building maintenance performance standards and procedures (ex. Caretaker Manual Principals guide)
Act as a liaison between District Supervisor/Assistant District Supervisor team and Project Officers
Prepare reports and presentations as required
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Required Qualifications:
University degree in a related field
Certification in Property Management
5-7 years related experience which includes managing in a unionized environment
Prior leadership and supervisory experience
Experience planning and administering budgets
Strong leadership skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Working knowledge of custodial and maintenance processes as well as building systems
Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act Employment Standards Act Collective Agreements and other applicable regulations
Able to interpret department and Board policies and apply them in their day-to-day work
Project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to analyze data prepare reports and manage budgets
Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with presentation experience
Has strong negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and maintain partnerships
Proven problem solving and decision making ability
Proficiency MS office applications (Excel Word etc) Google Suite of applications (sheets docs slides etc) Security and Facility Management Software Financial reports etc.
Individuals who possess an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
This is a full time permanent (1.0 FTE) position with an annual salary range of $97594 - $123972. A comprehensive employee benefits package and pension plan are also provided.
