The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Subsistence is recruiting for a
Research Analyst 1located in Anchorage!
What you will be doing:
The Department of Fish and Game Division of Subsistence is looking for a Research Analyst 1 (RA 1) to join our team. This is a long term nonpermanent position that will support subsistence research projects. The incumbent will be responsible for carrying out data entry and quality assurance tasks as well as assisting with the analysis of data collected by subsistence resource specialists on Alaskans subsistence hunting and fishing practices. Additional duties include filling data requests creating tables and figures for publication and obtaining information from various publicly available sources that will be used to compliment or enhance information collected by Subsistence. The incumbent will work under close coordination with the RA 4 in the Subsistence Divisions Information Management group Program Managers and other Research Analysts and Subsistence Resource Specialists to ensure quality and timely completion of priority tasks.

The working conditions you can expect:
This position is located at the Anchorage office at 333 Raspberry Rd location of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. The incumbent will regularly interact with other colleagues within the Department and other agencies in order to coordinate research analyze and write reports regarding the management of Alaskas subsistence resources. Daily work includes complex data entry tasks detailed survey review and coding as well as specialized quality assurance steps. The overall environment spans from data analysis report writing addressing data requests for regulatory questions and developing research proposals and questions/approaches.
The position is currently funded through June 30 2026 with the possibility of extension contingent upon special project funding.

Knowledge of subsistence in Alaska and a working knowledge of Alaskas diverse communities.
Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and carry out tasks in a timely fashion.
Experience working with databases preparing data summaries completing data entry and evaluating information for completeness accuracy and consistency.
Specific experience or education using a variety of programs including but not limited to: Excel Microsoft Access R Studio SPSS ArcGIS or similar tools.
Familiarity and experience with standard office computing equipment and software including Microsoft Office and Windows.
