This position can be supplemented with additional work as an Outside School Hours Care Assistant (OSHC) if desired.

Assistant Educator Pre-Preparatory Inclusion Support

Fixed Term Part Time Term Time

Monday Friday 6hrs per day (30hrs per week)

8.30am 3.00pm (incl. 30min unpaid lunch)

The successful applicant will be a qualified Assistant Educator with demonstrated experience working with young children in a Pre-Preparatory and/or Junior School setting. They will have a passion for education and a thorough understanding of the needs of girls and be dedicated to providing exceptional learning opportunities and supporting every students individual needs.

Role and Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to follow Educators instructions and provide support to students with identified inclusive learning needs leading to effective engagement in the learning opportunities provided across a wide range of classroom and day to day activities.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively within the Pre-Preparatory community working alongside classroom teachers to assist in developing resources deliver programs and provide adjustments for children where required
  • Assist children with executive function skills such as organisation planning self-regulation managing transitions sequencing of tasks and working memory
  • Assist Educators and children with learning enhancement needs within and outside the classroom
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment take direction and work autonomously meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to enhance connections with children parents and Educators
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and confidentially with stakeholders in a skillful manner
  • Ability to multi-task work in a fast-paced environment problem solve and resolve customer concerns
  • Proficient in the use of ICT in the classroom
  • Attend staff meetings and be confident to take initiative and put forward ideas and provide input on childrens needs
  • Playground support and supervision of children.

Please note this role works school term weeks only (not during school holidays). This role is dependent on Inclusion Development Funding Subsidy for the duration of this contract.

Selection Criteria Requirements

The successful candidate must possess the following requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications such as a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Demonstrated understanding of the educational social and emotional needs of children including those with learning needs
  • Experience working with children who possess different abilities pace of learning and learning styles
  • Experience working with children individually and in small groups with specific learning needs and support plans
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children teachers and parents
  • Experience working in an Early Learning Centre or School environment (Kindy/Preschool/Junior School)
  • Current Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • CPR & First Aid Qualifications (or willing to obtain prior to commencement)
