Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Highway Design Engineer with a strong background in roadway and highway design proficient in MicroStation and Autodesk Civil 3D. The ideal candidate will contribute to the planning design and development of transportation infrastructure projects including urban streets rural highways and major expressways. This role involves producing detailed design drawings ensuring compliance with DOT standards and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed roadway and highway design drawings using MicroStation and Autodesk Civil 3D
- Develop horizontal and vertical alignments typical sections grading and drainage design
- Coordinate with transportation planners structural engineers and utility designers
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop cost estimates
- Ensure compliance with applicable AASHTO DOT and local agency design standards
- Assist in preparing project reports specifications and construction documents
- Participate in client meetings and support project presentations
- Review and provide input on design concepts feasibility studies and value engineering efforts.
Qualifications:
- Diploma / Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in MicroStation and Autodesk Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of geometric design principles and civil drafting standards
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
