POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Accounting Manager/Supervisor Senior/Staff Accountants Accounts Payable Staff Consultants
POSITION PURPOSE
Under general direction the Controller is responsible for the companys accounting functions including the development and maintenance of the accounting principles practices procedures and initiatives. Manages the preparation of related financial reporting and statements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Directs the general accounting function by delegating the normal closing and reporting activities to subordinates.
- Ensures deadlines for accounting close are met and needed reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheets income statements cash-flow reports budgets and variance analyses.
- Reviews adjustments tax provisions intercompany transactions and other more complicated entries for adherence to GAAP and reasonableness.
- Prepares commentary for management consumption.
- Ensures that accounting procedures processes and structures are properly setup for each company and that personnel are properly trained in related systems applications.
- Oversees the activities of the consultants providing tax services to the company.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual independent audit and preparation of annual tax documents.
- Coordinating activities of external auditors as well as resolving related issues.
- Performs special and related duties as required by supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- A bachelors degree with a major in accounting is required from an accredited college university or institution.
- CPA or other relevant professional certification/designation is preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledgeable and proficient in Financial and Corporate accounting functions.
- Understand and apply US GAAP and IFRS; understand the impact of technical and business decisions
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:- 10 years industry related experience with 4-5 of those years in management.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Generally work independently with limited supervision.
- Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts absenteeism performance issues etc.
