Job Description

Role: Senior Analyst - Director s Initiatives Group (DIG)

POP: 12 months

Location: National Capital Region (Onsite at Pentagon in DC)

JOB SCOPE :

The Senior Analyst supports the Directors Initiatives Group in strategic communications senior leader engagement preparation and development of high-level messaging for internal and external audiences. This position requires exceptional communication skills strategic thinking ability and experience engaging with senior Army leadership Congress industry and other key stakeholders.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Secret Clearance required (TS Clearance may be required for certain portfolios)
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience and expertise in Force Development duties
  • Experience at senior levels of the Army such as HQDA MACOMs or Army Service Component Commands
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Experience preparing senior leaders for Congressional testimony and external engagements
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear concise salient messaging
  • Strong understanding of Army equipment modernization programs and priorities
  • Experience coordinating with subject matter experts across organizations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications particularly PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple concurrent engagements
  • High degree of interpersonal skills and professional presence

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Masters degree may substitute for one year of force development experience; PhD may substitute for two years
  • Experience with strategic communications in DoD or federal government
  • Knowledge of Congressional processes and stakeholder engagement
  • Previous experience supporting flag officer or SES-level leaders
  • Experience with public affairs or legislative liaison operations
  • Understanding of Army Futures Command modernization priorities

TASKS:

  • Support Armys internal and external strategic engagements with senior Army/Service/DoD leadership Congress press industry think tanks foreign militaries and professional organizations
  • Prepare Army for engagements by tasking subject matter experts and distilling information into salient and succinct format to maximize time and decision-making
  • Execute preparatory sessions for the Army and coordinate actual engagements
  • Capture events relevant insights due-outs and required follow-up actions
  • Develop strategic communications plans and targeted engagement plans
  • Coordinate development of speeches and briefings for senior Army leadership
  • Assist with preparing senior leadership for Congressional testimony
  • Make responsive adjustments to communications products as required
  • Identify key stakeholders in DoD Industry and multi-national Allies and partners with interest in modernization
  • Develop products to convey key messages (in concert with Army Futures Command)
  • Use information to support sequenced engagement plans for key initiatives
  • Coordinate development and review of strategic documents with internal and external stakeholders
  • Organize meetings and prepare notes and executive summaries for flag officers and senior civilians
  • Utilize analytical and conceptual skills to analyze concepts and design for best presentation of Army mission
  • Possess high degree of interpersonal skills and ability to comfortably and professionally brief material to Army senior leaders
  • Track and coordinate follow-up actions from senior leader engagements
  • Maintain awareness of Army modernization priorities and messaging strategies
  • Coordinate with Public Affairs and Legislative Liaison offices as appropriate
  • All other duties as assigned by management
