Job Purpose

To lead and manage the implementation of the BBBEE and related legislation for the bank to ensure compliance and develop Nedbanks B-BBEE Transformation Strategy set targets create the B-BBEE scorecard monitor execution provide subject matter expertise and BBBEE advisory to advance transformation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the B-BBEE strategy and scenarios development for the annual business planning process.
  • Lead the Groups and subsidiaries annual B-BBEE verification process.
  • Ensure that the bank is compliant with all B-BBEE and related legislation.
  • Develop the Business Transformation policy that intends to set out the high-level principles for transformation across the group to ensure that all employees business units divisions and clusters align to a single framework.
  • Create the Business Transformation Risk Frameworks and effectively managing risks including approval of RCSA KICL etc. to mitigate the risks we would be exposed to by failing to respond timeously and strategically to amendments and changes to the B-BBEE and related legislation.
  • Lead the team effectively and efficiently across the HR value chain including recruitment performance management retention of critical staff succession planning coaching and talent management.
  • Manage the financials relating to the B-BBEE function.
  • Be the subject matter expert to business and build and manage this as a centre of excellence for B-BBEE.
  • Adviseon theimplementation of the relevant B-BBEE legislation including educating and informingbusiness of any developments in the B-BBEE landscape and on other industry-related matters.
  • Lead and provide guidance to the team to produce the Group and Cluster scorecards monthly to monitor progress.
  • Manage the approval process and delivery of Group and Cluster Targets.
  • Ensure theunderstanding actuals achieved to targets to identify business needs or areas of assistance to be able to add value and maximize the scorecard. If targets are not met identify cause and facilitate the development of corrective action.
  • Develop high quality reports approve internal reports present and engage at various committees andrequired forums within the bank in line with the Groups requirements and
  • Manageand approve the submission of all compliance external reports to e.g. Financial Sector Transformation Council (FSTC) Banking Association of South Africa BEE Commission etc.
  • Lead the agenda and drive the outcomes of the Group Transformation Forum to ensure that the transformation strategy is integrated within the broader Nedbank business strategy.

Job Responsibilities Continue

  • Develop and approveresponses to any ad-hoc requirements e.g. external questionnaires and surveys from Financial Sector Transformation Council (FSTC) Banking Association South Africa (BASA) National Credit Regulator (NCR) Empowered Intellidex etc.
  • Manage key stakeholder industry engagement and relationships to influence and drive the relevant B-BBEE legislation e.g. participating on industry task team FSC review process negotiations as per the mandate
  • Oversee the development towards automating the B-BBEE scorecard creation including scenario planning capability and ensure that legislative changes may be updated.
  • Lead the development of the group transformation communications plan with a view to creating a positive reputation and image for Nedbank whilst highlighting our transformation credentials.
  • Manage the annual development of and approvethe Transformation Review Chapter for integrated reporting.
  • Lead the content creation and structure of the annual Top Empowerment Conference and managing execution.
  • Lead and ensure execution of key strategic projects for Nedbank e.g. YES Programme ESD vehicle.
  • Deal with any ad-hoc B-BBEE requests e.g. Information for Request for Tender (RFT) submissions Create and approve responses to relevant media queries assisting business to empower SMMEs managing the Ownership workgroup.
  • Act as the Nedbank B-BBEE spokesperson at industry level including Panel discussions invitee delivering masterclasses podcasts invited as South African Council for Businesswomen (SACBW) thought leader writing articles media interviews etc.


Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

Bcom Finance Economics Law and Accounting and related

Minimum Experience Level

11 years working experience

Technical and strategy expertise with the Financial sector code and/ or any other BEE code of good practice.

Min 7 years of people management experience .

Legal Finance Compliance and/or Accounting and Strategy background.
