Job Description
Harris MillerMiller& Hanson Inc. (HMMH) a leader in transportation environmental consulting seeks aGIS Specialistto join our growing Aviation Environmental & Sustainability Group. Thisis aremote orhybrid positionoutof ourBurlington MAoffice.
You will contribute to noise and air quality studies sustainability planning environmental impact mitigation regulatory compliance and public engagement for airport projects worldwide. HMMH founded in 1981 has a proventrack recordof delivering expert environmental solutions to over 200 airports.
Position Responsibilities
- Use your quantitative skills to analyze data todeterminenoise and air quality results
- Find creative technically sound andappropriate solutionsto technical problems
- Participate in data collection including measurement trips
- Actively communicate with project team members and clients to contribute toward delivering high-quality technical documentation
- Assistclients in compilingaircraftoperations correspondence and land use data
- Translate complex spatial data into accessiblecartographicvisuals and narratives for diverse audiences
- Other duties as assigned
MinimumRequirements
- BA BS or MS in a technical field (aerospace/aviation physics math engineering environmental sciences or other technical fields)
- 26 years of experience in a similar field
- Proficiencyin ArcGIS Pro for spatial data analysis; experience with ArcGIS Online and geodatabase management preferred
- Understanding of coordinate systems projections and spatial data formats
- Strong writing skills and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated interpersonal and collaborative communication skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to design clearaccurate and visually compelling maps using ArcGIS Pro
- Understanding of cartographic principles including color theory symbology scale and layout design
- Experience applyingappropriate coordinatesystems and projections for spatial accuracy
Desired Experience
- Data management and programming experience (specifically SQL Python)
- Demonstrated experience supporting team presentations and public meeting participation
- Interest in acoustics air quality aviation and environmental issues
- Experience withModelBuilderorArcPyscripting for automation and analysis
- Familiarity with remote sensing data LiDAR or spatial interpolation techniques
- Use ofStoryMapsor dashboard creation for public engagement and reporting
- Knowledge of accessibility standards in cartographic design (e.g. colorblind-friendly palettes legible fonts)
