Position:Level 2 Paraprofessional - In School Suspension Monitor and Athletic Assistant
Location: Duncan Lake Middle School
Reports To:Building Principal
Compensation:$15.78 per hour (or more depending on experience) 32.5 hours per week/183 Days per year.

Position Summary
Contributes to the achievement of educational goals by providing additional educational support to students in the areas of math reading and other content areas. The paraprofessional works under the direction of a certified teacher or the building principal.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Supervision and Monitoring
- Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension at all times during theschool day.
- Ensure that students remain on-task follow school rules and maintain appropriate behavior.
- Take attendance and report daily participation and compliance.
Instructional Support
- Provide students with classwork and assignments from their teachers.
- Assist students with understanding directions and staying organized with their work.
- Monitor academic progress and return completed assignments to teachers.
- Ensure students have access to necessary materials (books computers supplies).
Behavioral Management
- Enforce rules and expectations for respectful quiet and appropriate conduct.
- Teach and model positive behavior strategies when appropriate.
- Intervene in and de-escalate conflicts or disruptions calmly and effectively.
- Document student behavior and report serious issues to administrators.
- Communication and Reporting
- Communicate with teachers counselors and administrators regarding student
- progress and needs.
- Record student attendance behavior incidents and completion of work.
- Notify administrators if a student fails to comply with ISS expectations.
Supportive Duties
- Provide a structured safe and disciplined learning environment.
- Sometimes assist with character education reflection activities or restorative practices.
- Support school-wide behavior plans PBIS or MTSS interventions as directed.
- Occasionally help with duties before or after the ISS session (e.g. supervising hallways lunch or dismissal).
Athletic Duties
- Secure and compensate officials for all home contests.
- Procure and compensate table workers and admissions for all home contests.
- Obtain transportation for all away contests.
- Maintain Final Forms for all student athletes.
- Maintain Eligibility for all student athletes.
- Manage the preparation of facilities for all home contests.
- Maintain Schedules and Communications with the Athletic Director(s) WMMSC and Coaches.
Employment Qualifications
- EDUCATION: This position requires the attainment of a high school diploma or equivalent. College coursework is desired but not required. Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading writing and mathematics are essential.
- EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working with students is preferred but not required.
