PENSION ANALYST
Location: OCDSB Administration Building; 133 Greenbank Road Nepean ON
Position Status: 1.0 Regular Full-time 12 month work year
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 35 hours per week
Affiliation: OSSTF District 25 - Educational Support Professionals (ESP)
Salary range: $58159 to $72905 (Level 7)
Job Summary
Reporting to the Payroll Team Manager and working with internal and external stakeholders the Pension Analyst works independently to perform all aspects of pension plan administration and processing for the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) and the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (TPP). This job calculates pension and salary adjustments as they relate to pension contributions and service adjustments completes pension forms and produces pension reports processes retirements terminations layoffs disabilities severance retirement gratuities leave of absences and death claims. The Pension Analyst trains other members of the pension team advises Payroll Analysts of required corrective action and participates in special projects to ensure compliance with the Pension Benefits Act (PBA).
Qualifications
Two-year community college diploma in business administration and three years of experience in pension administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Experience with OMERS or TPP pension plans is considered an asset
Completion of pension plan administration courses (PPAC) or working towards is considered an asset.
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures Pension Benefits Act Payroll Legislation including OMERS and TPP pension plans and accounting practices and procedures.
Knowledge of the computerized payroll system to perform pension tasks.
Advanced level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including excel spreadsheets and word processing Adobe Laserfiche and SQL reports.
Working knowledge of K212 Human Resources and Payroll (K212 HRP) considered an asset.
Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required in order to explain complex pension information and to clarify exchange and respond to inquiries from Board Personnel at all levels.
Ability to use tact diplomacy and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
Ability to work under strict and sometimes inflexible deadlines.
Analytical and research skills to locate retrieve and analyze pension data and information.
Organizational skills as well as time management techniques for prioritizing and juggling multiple tasks and meeting stringent timelines.
Mathematical skills required for pension calculations and adjustments.
Initiative and judgment when making decisions identifying and resolving payroll problems and discrepancies.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
