Job Description

Psychology and Sociology Teacher - Battersea Wandsworth

We are actively seeking a talented and versatile Psychology and Sociology Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in the desirable Battersea area of Wandsworth. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated educator to inspire students across two fascinating social sciences at the advanced level.

The Role

The school is looking for a qualified teacher with proven experience teaching both subjects with expertise up to A-Level in at least one and preferably both. The ideal candidate will be adept at fostering critical thinking and making complex human behaviour and societal concepts engaging. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality engaging lessons in Psychology and Sociology to students up to A-Level.
  • Developing and implementing a rigorous curriculum that covers key theories research methods and contemporary issues in both fields.
  • Thoroughly preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations focusing on strong analytical and essay writing skills.
  • Utilizing current events and social debates to make the subjects relevant and thought-provoking.
  • Collaborating with the Humanities department to share best practices and contribute to a strong social science offering.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this rewarding position you should have:

  • A degree in Psychology Sociology or a closely related social science discipline.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a PGCE.
  • Proven experience teaching both subjects at the secondary level with a strong ability to teach at least one and ideally both to A-Level.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the relevant examination specifications (e.g. AQA Edexcel).
  • Excellent communication written skills and the ability to manage complex dual-subject planning.

Salary & Application

The salary for this position is competitive and will be paid to the MPS/UPS scale (Inner London pay scale) commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
