Position: Accounting Manager
Location: Madison Wisconsin
Position Type: Full-Time Direct Hire
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of a growing HVAC company. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting compliance with industry regulations and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities-
Financial Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare and present monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to management on financial performance.

Oversee job costing and project profitability for service and installation work.

Accounting Operations Management:

Supervise daily accounting functions including accounts payable (A/P) accounts receivable (A/R) payroll and general ledger.

Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.

Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes collaborating with department heads to align financial plans with business objectives.

Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure financial stability.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

Ensure compliance with all federal state and local tax regulations.

Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.

Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.

Team Leadership & Development:

Manage and mentor the accounting team fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and efficiency.

Education:
-
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.

CPA or CMA certification preferred.

Experience:
-
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

Experience in the HVAC or construction industry is highly desirable.

Skills:
-
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Sage 300) and Microsoft Excel.

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations.

Excellent analytical organizational and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
