Purpose of the Position:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to support the mental health and well-being of Indigenous populations (First Nations Métis and Inuit) within the Districts of Muskoka. As a key member of our Crisis/Intake Clinical Team you will provide high-quality assessment intake and crisis intervention services ensuring culturally sensitive care. The role includes both mobile outreach and in-person support and involves participation in a 24/7 on-call service to provide continuous support.

Education and Qualifications:

  • We highly value life experience work experience and practical knowledge in supporting individuals with mental health and addictions. Equivalency will be heavily considered in place of formal education for candidates with significant relevant experience in the field. A clinical degree (Bachelors or higher) in Psychology Social Work Nursing or a related field is considered an asset but not a strict requirement.
  • Practical experience working with serious mental illnesses typically gained with at least one (1) year of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures history and the impact on health is essential.
  • Indigenous language or a strong awareness of Indigenous languages is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective case management and crisis intervention particularly in Indigenous contexts.
  • Knowledge of mental illnesses and issues related to severe mental health conditions.
  • Implement recommendations from the Indigenous Opioid Strategy in the region. Experience working with individuals struggling with addiction.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team in a rural setting.
  • Excellent communication organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Outlook and data management software.
  • A valid Ontario G or G2 drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work shifts including evenings weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Bilingual in French is an asset.



Major Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key support to Indigenous consumers by managing walk-in self-referrals and crisis situations in a culturally sensitive and professional manner.
  • Respond to emergency department requests and provide crisis assessments as required.
  • Serve as a shift manager for the Bsaanibamaadsiwin team handling referrals and crisis calls.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including First Nations communities and external partners.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call crisis service and assist with implementing the agencys 24/7 crisis support.
  • Engage in community education and development activities.



Salary Scale: $29.26 to $38.32 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience.



Benefits: Optional enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) with contributions starting on the date of hire.
