Summary of Job Duties:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for set up and to assist provider with medical procedures and examinations.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an accredited program.
- A minimum of one (1) year medical assistance experience.
- BLS (CPR) Certification.
Special knowledge abilities and skills:
- Ability to perform point of care testing draw and collect blood specimens and prepare for laboratory processing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
- Researches physicians orders/accession orders within Epic environment prior to submission to clinical laboratory or appropriate processing center.
- Collects/records patients data acquires patient vital signs and may utilize skills such as phlebotomy.
- Performs additional skills such as EKGs and dressing changes.
- Sets-up for and assists provider with procedures and examinations
- Administers approved medications per UAMS policy.
- Manages patient appointment schedule by balancing medical needs with patients timetable.
- Greets all patients/customers in professional and courteous manner upon arrival at clinic.
- Answer telephones and other office administration duties as required.
- Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
- Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers management team and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Will be required to float to other clinics in the service line due to productivity needs or low census
