Overview
JMark is seeking a Chimera Modeling Support Specialist to provide expertise in molecular / structural modeling using the Chimera environment (UCSF Chimera or similar toolsets) in support of mission-critical research R&D and applied intelligence/analytics tasks. This role will support both baseline modeling and advanced modeling workflows integrating external data sources supporting visualization structural analysis and assisting in model validation and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create refine and manage molecular / structural / visualization models in Chimera (or equivalent tools) including setting up scenes rendering assemblies etc.
  • Support integration of data into models: importing experimental data coordinate files densities alignment etc.
  • Assist with comparative modeling workflows: alignments homology modeling docking support (if applies) structural validation.
  • Troubleshoot Chimera workflows: performance issues rendering problems file format conversions.
  • Maintain modeling scripts automate repetitive tasks (e.g. model generation batch rendering) where feasible.
  • Work with domain experts (bio/structural scientists analysts) to ensure the models serve mission requirements.
  • Document modeling workflows versioning of models maintain metadata / provenance.
  • Stay current on advances in molecular modeling visualization related tools and recommend improvements or new methods.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Biology Biochemistry Structural Biology Bioinformatics Computational Chemistry or related field.
  • 2-4 years (or more for senior) experience using UCSF Chimera (or ChimeraX) or similar molecular modeling / visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with structural biology data types: PDB mmCIF electron density maps etc.
  • Some scripting experience (Python etc.) for automating modeling tasks or manipulating model inputs/outputs.
  • Strong attention to detail / ability to validate structural integrity check for clashes missing atoms etc.
  • Good communication skills for collaborating with scientists and non-scientists.
  • U.S. citizen; Secret clearance required; ability to obtain TS/SCI preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with homology modelling docking molecular dynamics or related structural computational workflows.
  • Familiarity with other visualization / modeling tools (ChimeraX PyMOL VMD etc.).
  • Experience in mission/intel / GEOINT / national security contexts.
  • Prior work in applied R&D or lab-to-field transitions.
