2026 Program Information
Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Lights internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.
Overall Purpose
The Engineering group plans designs and orders materials for our distribution and transmission facilities (lines and substations) in a cost-effective manner to ensure safe efficient and reliable delivery of power to our customers. Groups include: Distribution Engineering Third Party Attachments Substation Design Engineering Substation Control Engineering and the Civil & Transmission Line Engineering.
We are filling multiple positions and the successful candidates will be considered for several areas of Engineering to include:
Education/Experience
Applicants must be currently enrolled in anABET-Accredited BS or MS program inElectrical Engineering.
Skills/Abilities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Hybrid Work
All internships follow our hybrid work model with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
Other
