Opportunity Overview:

As we implement the Next Wave Strategy across EY our MENA Service Lines are embarking on an exciting journey with a bold purpose: to build a better working world by transforming businesses through the power of people technology and this context the role of a General Ledger (GL) professional becomes increasingly vital to ensure accurate representation of firm liabilities and a clear balance sheet reflecting vendor positions.

To support the expansion of our MENA service lines we are seeking additional expertise in the GL function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently utilize SAP across all finance modules demonstrating a solid understanding of ERP/SAP systems.
  • Manage offshore work effectively collaborating with the wider finance community across various Middle East (ME) offices from our Karachi location.
  • Independently oversee GL functions while actively participating in and leading improvement initiatives over time.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of and adherence to all finance policies and processes.
  • Serve as a primary resource for GL-related inquiries within the designated location.
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Well-developed listening skills with the ability to apply judgment and seek guidance when escalation to a functional expert is warranted.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience preferably in a fast-paced professional services environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels within the firm.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite particularly Excel PowerPoint Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to analyzing and solving complex issues.
  • A finance-related degree progress towards an accountancy qualification or experience in a professional services or consultancy setting.
  • Innovative confident and creative thinker with the ability to make swift decisions.

Ideally youll also have:

  • A business/commercial degree or postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience in budgeting and account forecasting.
  • People management and development experience.
  • Strong understanding of market activities and business-related experience.
