Are you a dedicated and passionate Staff Nurse looking to make a change in your career and gain more experience We are currently looking for 1 x Staff Nurse to transfer to the Vascular Access Quality & Safety Team for a full time Staff Nurse Positon (37.5 hours per week). This is ideal for Nurses who thrive under pressure and are committed to delivering safe care by promoting vessel health preservation.

Qualifications & Experience

Must have:
  • Be registered in the General Division of the active Register held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years post registration experience in the acute care sector
  • Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing learning and professional development
  • Experience in venepuncture and cannulation is required.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The person chosen will:
  • Maintain throughout the Hospital awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all Hospital activities
  • Ensure the provision of a high standard of care to the patient and families is consistent with the mission vision values and strategic plan of the Hospital.
  • Ensure assessment of patient care needs as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Work within his/her Scope of Practice.
  • Identify and implement operations of Hospital Policy in all matters.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Hospital/Departmental Emergency Plans.
  • Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Values of the Hospital.
  • Play an active role in patient education and be actively involved in Health Education and promotion.
  • Have reporting relationship to the Assistant Director of Nursing & CNM3 AMRIC.
  • Have Professional accountability to the Director of Nursing

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY
The Service
The chosen candidate will:
  • Plan and assess patient care needs.
  • Adhere to departmental patient identification policy at all times.
  • Ensure a high standard of care evidence-based is delivered safely in accordance with the Hospital policies procedures and guidelines.
  • Preserve the dignity and rights of the patient at all times during their stay in the department. Encourage the recognition of the patient as an individual ensuring patients needs and comfort are given priority.
  • To support practices that limit catheter insertion to circumstances when necessary and prompt removal when no longer necessary.
  • Insertion and care of IVCs.
  • Replacement/re-siting of IVCs when appropriate.
  • Provide education and training of other staff related to IVCs.
  • Implementation of HSE AMRIC prevention of peripheral venous catheter (PVC) and central venous catheter (CVC) related infection guidance to support prevention of PVC and CVC related infections.
  • Implementation of HSE AMRIC insertion and maintenance care bundles for PVC and CVC device management.
  • Audit monitor and evaluation of IVC insertion team metrics and KPI data.
  • Communicate with the relevant teams regarding the patients condition and relaying information.
  • Document and record accurately all details of nursing care delivered. Update IT systems accordingly.
  • Foster good nurse/patient relationships through the provision of holistic Nursing care and support for each patient.
  • Ensure that all equipment for use in your designated area is checked by an appropriate user according to Hospital policy.
  • Participate in IVC projects aimed at improving patient experience and patient safety.
  • Participate in incident reviews of line related blood stream infections.
  • Report accidents/incidents complaints to the CNM3. Ensure that accident/incident forms are completed.
