Our Service Design Office Bus Operations Planning Office is looking for an experienced Senior Planning Officer with a solid understanding of current transportation initiatives to lead the planning and design of transportation services.
What will I be doing
- Provide comprehensive strategic and technical transportation planning and analysis to develop long- and short-term plans for new services and optimize existing ones in alignment with the corporations planning objectives.
- Engage in all stages of project development and execution related to bus service planning.
- Lead negotiations and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure support for proposed actions and resolve issues in complex politically sensitive environments.
- Assess and develop data strategies and structures to maintain scheduling data for a variety of corporate needs.
- Plan and oversee long-term platform allocations and passenger amenities to ensure sustainable use of infrastructure.
- Strategically evaluate and optimize the use of resources and facilities to support future service growth and efficiency.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Knowledge of transportation and/ or planning normally attained though completion of a 3-year community college program in Transportation Planning; or any combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent including comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration normally attained through completion of a 3-year community college program in Business Administration or equivalent length of experience.
- Demonstrated years of progressively responsible experience in the transportation/transit field with demonstrated project management and technical analysis skills.
- Ability to work as a team member and provide team leadership.
- Demonstrated Project Management skills with the ability to co-ordinate several complex projects under pressure meeting schedule and budget commitments.
- Strong analytical oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound knowledge of supervisory principles and practices including knowledge of the collective agreement and the bargaining process and the ability to deal with employees in a unionized environment.
- Ability to integrate transit planning with corporate objectives market research and other transportation / land use planning.
- Ability to project and substantiate the impact of service level changes on manpower budget and the availability of equipment.
- Experience with computerized transit scheduling software would be an asset.
- Knowledge of with ArcGIS and geospatial analysis would be an asset.
- Experience with Python SQL R and PowerBI would be an asset.
