JOB SUMMARY
BKV Corporation is launching a trading and marketing division to optimize our substantial upstream natural gas portfolio (1 bcf/day) pipeline capacity and integrated energy assets. We are seeking a motivated Commercial Pipeline Representative to join our team and support the commercial optimization of our NTX and Penn pipeline systems and related energy marketing activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pipeline Transportation & Storage Management
- Manage and optimize the commercial aspects of our pipeline transportation agreements storage agreements development of future transport plans and support of new business development evaluations.
- Monitor daily pipeline capacity utilization and identify optimization opportunities across Texas and Pennsylvania and interconnected systems.
- Execute capacity transactions to maximize portfolio value.
- Assist in negotiating transportation storage and interconnect agreements with pipeline operators and counterparties.
Commercial Analysis & Market Intelligence
- Monitor and analyze market trends to identify new business opportunities and optimize pipeline capacity.
- Track basis differentials pipeline constraints and seasonal patterns affecting our transportation portfolio.
- Support the development of hedging strategies using financial instruments to manage basis risk.
- Conduct market research to support future transport plans and expansion opportunities.
Reporting & Internal Coordination
- Prepare and present commercial reports forecasts and budgets to management.
- Collaborate with operations legal and accounting teams to ensure seamless commercial execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across upstream operations and corporate teams.
Customer Relations & Business Development
- Resolve internal and external customer inquiries and disputes in a timely and professional manner.
- Support new business development evaluations for additional pipeline capacity storage facilities and marketing opportunities.
- Participate in industry events and conferences to stay abreast of market developments and network with key players.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong understanding of the energy market with a focus on natural gas fundamentals and pipeline operations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with financial modeling and valuation techniques
- Understanding of NYMEX futures basis trading and pipeline scheduling/nominations
- Proficiency in Excel financial analysis and market data platforms
- Excellent communication interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Collaborative approach to cross-functional project management
- Professional demeanor for internal and external stakeholder interactions
- Previous experience with interstate pipeline systems (Texas Pennsylvania or similar) preferred.
- Familiarity with power generation markets and integrated energy operations preferred.
- Knowledge of NAESB standards and pipeline operating procedures preferred.
- Experience supporting business development or commercial evaluation processes preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in business finance engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the energy industry preferably in a commercial or business development role
- Proven track record of successful negotiation and contract management
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position will be located at BKVs Houston Texas office (77056).
- A hybrid work schedule.
- Travel up to 15-25% (industry events pipeline meetings counterparty visits)
