Job Description

Fixed Term Part time/Full time Contract until August 2030

We are seeking a skilledCardiac Sonographer to join our Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) research team. This role will play a pivotal part in the Rheumatic Heart Disease team which aims to integrate echocardiographic screening for RHD into routine care across northern Australia and Timor-Leste.

Working alongside a passionate research team you will provide expert echocardiographic support mentor and train health workers and contribute to the development of innovative community-driven approaches to early diagnosis and care.

The Role:

The successful candidate for this role will lead and support echocardiography training programs ensuring accreditation with Australasian Society of Ultrasound Medicine. You will be responsible for mentoring and review screening echocardiograms with trainees to build local capacity.

Collaborate and contribute to research activities including data collection management and reporting and support ethics submissions research publications and dissemination of findings.

About you:

You are an experienced and motivated Cardiac Sonographer who is passionate about improving health outcomes in diverse and often under-served communities. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively in research environments and thrive in roles where training mentoring and knowledge-sharing are central.

You also have:

A PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of postgraduate study and research experience. You must also hold current accreditation in Cardiac Sonography (e.g. with the Australian Sonography Accreditation Registry).

Strong experience in cardiac imaging and echocardiography with a demonstrated ability to apply your skills in research or clinical settings. Experience in First Nations cardiovascular health will be highly regarded.

A proven ability to develop and deliver training mentoring and educational resources tailored to participants from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

The benefits:

  • Base Salary $109828 - $128734 per annum pro rata (Total remuneration package including superannuation $135471 - $157024 per annum pro-rata).
  • Generous leave provisions including 6 weeks annual leave.
  • Salary packaging up to $15900 per annum and $2650 meal and entertainment card tax free.
