Position Summary
The Box Office Assistant Manager supports the overall operations of the box office and ensures efficient customer-focused service in all aspects of ticket sales and guest experience. This role assists in supervising box office staff managing ticketing systems handling escalated customer concerns and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate is organized detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $25.00-$29.00

About the Venue
Our goal is to prepare this one-of-a-kind community facility for its Next Act by replacing or restoring most systems installing new seats sound and lighting adapting the structure to meet current ADA requirements and providing the theatre with modern facilities needed to provide Palm Springs and the Valley with a venue accessible and affordable for everyone. Exciting new developments include:SAVE RESTORE REOPEN
When we began this project our slogan was Help Save the Plaza Theatre but now that the restoration is in progress were focusing on the finish line and are now saying Help REOPEN the Plaza restoration project is well underway. Woodcliff Construction of Los Angeles has been working on comprehensive renovation of the historic building since March 2024. The restoration work will take approximately one year to complete allowing the Plaza Theatre to open in late 2025.
ThePlaza Theatrewill once again become a major economic driver for the City generating millions in economic activity by bringing hundreds of visitors and locals per week to the downtown to see quality entertainment. The Foundation has partnered with Oak View Group to bring diverse high-quality programming. When restored the Plaza Theatre will be the only place available for the entire community to come together and utilize it as an affordable community venue showcasing diverse programming for all people local youth organizations promoting multicultural programming in film music live theater education comedy and entertainment for all.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Box Office Manager in the daily operations of the box office including opening and closing procedures.
- Supervise and support box office staff providing training direction and ongoing performance feedback.
- Oversee ticket sales exchanges refunds and will-call distribution using the ticketing system Ticketmaster. (TM1 Archtics Host)
- Ensure excellent customer service is delivered to patrons both in-person and over the phone/email.
- Troubleshoot ticketing or access issues and handle escalated customer service concerns.
- Monitor ticket inventory pricing and seating charts; communicate with other departments on updates and event changes.
- Assist with preparing and reconciling daily sales reports and financial records.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all events policies and promotions.
- Help create and enforce box office policies and procedures.
- Step in to act as Box Office Manager in their absence.
- Assist management with scheduling and supervision of box office staff.
- General administrative duties such as providing support to all ticket representatives organizing orders and general office needs.
- Support at events on night of show as needed.
- Other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of related work experience. Experience in a Box Office/Entertainment Venue not required but a plus.
- Ability to engage in positive interaction with employees and industry contacts organize problem solve while prioritizing time management and multitasking in a high-pressure environment
- Competitive self-motivated and creative-thinking skills and a team-first attitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including email etiquette.
- High level of demonstrated professionalism integrity and ability to maintain sensitive information.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook Excel Word etc.) and Google Docs.
- Familiarity with Ticketmaster or any other ticketing platforms not required but a plus.
