The Board of Education School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson) invites applications for the position of

SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS/CEO

School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson) respectfully acknowledges that our schools reside on the traditional lands of the Secwépemc Nation who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial.

The Board of Education invites expressions of interest from courageous visionary educational leaders who have a track record that involves leading positive change building on current successes achieving strong student results and establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships.

As the successful candidate you understand the theory and practice of system transformation most notably in the context of British Columbia and you are known as a connector and a team builder.

As a senior leader you have worked effectively to identify and focus on educational priorities which are supported through budget development and capital planning. You ensure that the school district has resources to sustain and grow its educational programs and services. As the Boards key employee you understand how effective school systems manage governance and leadership roles and you have demonstrated success in working well with a Board of Education.

Your strong school and district leadership includes successful connections with Indigenous Rights Holders partner groups students parents unions management staff media and the community. You believe in the value of diversity and enhancing the life chances of all children.

In summary the Kamloops-Thompson Board of Education (School District No. 73) is seeking a Superintendent who will:

Increase student success across all our learning communities

Develop and maintain positive collaborative relationships in a school system that keeps student learning central to all its decisions

Model leadership excellence

Encourage employee growth

Be well-versed in applying systems thinking approaches to the work of leadership

Provide effective strategic direction

Cultivate community engagement support and confidence


Candidate qualifications include:

A Masters degree in educational leadership or related field

A valid BC teaching certificate or eligibility with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch

A minimum of ten (10) years of recent and successful experience in a leadership position including a minimum of five (5) years of senior leadership experience in a school district.

The salary range for this position is $254716 $283018 plus an excellent comprehensive benefits package.

About Kamloops-Thompson School District

Located in the stunning surroundings of BCs interior the Kamloops-Thompson School District serves approximately

16000 students including 3100 students of Indigenous ancestry in 49 schools. Our district is dedicated to creating a safe caring and healthy learning and working environment that is inclusive of the diversity of our entire learning community. With an annual budget of approximately $251 million and nearly 3000 employees our District offers a wide range of program options including: French Immersion International Baccalaureate Montessori sports academies trades programs a K-12 fine arts school and an elementary science and technology school. We serve learners across 35 elementary schools 10 secondary schools one Kindergarten-to-Grade 12 school one alternative education program one continuing education program and one Provincial Online Learning school.

School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson) works in collaboration with seven First Nations communities Métis Inuit

and diverse urban Indigenous populations in a large geographical area. The District extends to Pinantan Lake Heffley Creek Sun Peaks Barriere Clearwater Vavenby and Blue River to the north Logan Lake to the south Savona to the west and Chase and Westwold to the east.
