Job Description

The Logic is seeking a Director of Advertising and Commercial Development to lead and grow our display advertising business and build the commercial operations that enable new sponsorship and partnership products.

This senior role has two pillars:

Commercial Development and Enablement: Work closely with the Director of Brand Partnerships to support sponsorship and partnership success by building scalable processes collateral and reporting frameworks. This includes leading the design budgeting vendor management and execution of new commercial initiatives that support long term repeatable success in the market.

Advertising and Revenue Leadership: Own and grow the strategy pipeline and execution for The Logics display advertising business driving revenue growth by identifying pitching and closing opportunities and ensuring campaigns are delivered effectively in collaboration with internal teams.

Reporting to the COO and collaborating closely with the senior leadership team this role can be remote but requires occasional travel to The Logics Toronto headquarters for client meetings strategic planning and team collaboration (minimum 3-5 times per year).

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the next phase of The Logics growth unlocking new revenue streams improving commercial infrastructure and broadening the impact of The Logics journalism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commercial Development and Enablement: Collaborate with the Director of Brand Partnerships to ensure sponsorship and partnership products are supported with strong infrastructure (processes collateral and reporting). Lead the design budgeting vendor management and execution of new commercial initiatives.
  • Advertising and Revenue Leadership: Own the strategy and execution of The Logics display advertising business leading the full sales cycle from pipeline development through to campaign delivery in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Campaign & Event Delivery: Ensure advertising campaigns and new commercial initiatives are executed on time within budget and at a high standard working closely with operations marketing and product teams.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage budgets vendors and reporting for advertising and commercial initiatives ensuring accountability efficiency and high-quality delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across the organization to integrate advertising and commercial opportunities in ways that align with The Logics values and standards.

Qualifications:
  • 10 years of experience in advertising sales and/or commercial operations ideally in a media or publishing environment.
  • Proven ability to drive advertising revenue growth while designing scalable processes collateral and reporting that support broader commercial products.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills with experience overseeing large multi-faceted initiatives.
  • Excellent communication presentation and negotiation skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with senior-level sponsors partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Established network of industry contacts with the ability to quickly generate new business opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of the media landscape and how to create partnerships that align with editorial and commercial priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders.
