Summary Statement:
The Student Equity and Family Engagement specialist supports the districts commitment to equity and inclusive education by providing training facilitation mentoring and coaching to colleagues and peers. This role focuses on advancing racial equity anti-bias education culturally responsive practices amplifying student voice and increasing family engagement. Through individualized coaching small group guidance and department-level professional learning the position helps staff integrate student perspectives into decision-making build capacity promote equitable practices and foster inclusive student-centered learning environments across the district.
Essential Functions:
- Design and deliver professional development on racial equity anti-bias education culturally responsive practices family engagement and student voice to teachers staff and administrators.
- Assess and respond to the unique needs of individual schools adapting coaching training and support to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
- Assist teachers and administrators in developing culturally relevant instructional content for improving overall student achievement; provide data analysis culturally-responsive instructional strategies and various tools to aid in the instructional process and improve outcomes for underrepresented populations.
- Collaborate with school leadership teams and professional learning communities to identify goals and priorities for coaching and support promoting leadership growth enhanced student outcomes and progress toward closing achievement gaps.
- Provide guidance and consultation to administrators on equity-focused strategies anti-bias practices and inclusive decision-making.
- Offer 1:1 coaching and mentoring to colleagues supporting the application of equity-focused strategies in classrooms and school practices.
- Lead small group workshops discussions and collaborative problem-solving sessions that center equity and student perspectives.
- Assist the Teaching Learning and Equity Department in planning and implementing district-wide initiatives programs and trainings.
- Develop strategies and opportunities for student input and feedback to inform instructional practices school policies and equity initiatives.
- Create and distribute materials tools and resources to support culturally responsive teaching and equitable practices.
- Collect analyze and use qualitative and quantitative data to guide training coaching and equity interventions.
- Work with other district departments to ensure alignment of equity initiatives and practices across all areas of the school system.
Demonstrate culturally responsive teaching and engagement practices in professional learning sessions and in coaching interactions. - Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training coaching and equity initiatives providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain knowledge of best practices research and trends in equity anti-bias education culturally responsive pedagogy and student engagement and integrate these into all professional learning activities.

Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State teaching certificate.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; Masters degree preferred.
- Successful teaching experience across diverse populations.
- Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communications with diverse community members to include students staff parents and community stakeholders.
- Ability to respond to and engage with a diverse multi-cultural and multi-racial community and to work side by side and foster strong positive relationships with parents staff students and the public.
- Considerable knowledge of the current literature trends and developments in the field of Equity in education and specifically racial Equity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of state and national education standards.
- Effective communication collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers.
- Ability to model lessons demonstrating best practice for culturally responsive teaching and classroom management.
- Ability to support teachers in the development of culturally responsive lessons.
- Ability to analyze student school and district data.
- Ability to develop innovative and effective instructional and professional development materials.
- Fluent in two or more languages preferred.
Advanced ability to use technology as an effective communication planning and instructional tool
