About the OpportunityVeterans Engineering (VE) is seeking skilled and dedicated Phlebotomists to provide services at the Fresno VA Medical Center (Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service) in support of our nations Veterans. This role offers the chance to serve those who served us while working in a professional team-oriented healthcare environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform venipuncture capillary draws and specimen collection accurately and efficiently.
Follow VA protocols infection control and laboratory safety standards.
Document patient interactions and specimen data in electronic medical records (EMR).
Collaborate with VA clinical staff to support timely and accurate laboratory operations.
Maintain compliance with all VA training safety and professional conduct requirements.
QualificationsCurrent Phlebotomy Certification (required).
Minimum of 1 year of recent phlebotomy experience preferred.
Proficient in blood collection techniques; strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to read write and speak English fluently.
Must complete required VA training (HIPAA Privacy & Security Infection Control BLS/ACLS etc.) prior to first shift and annually.
Must meet health requirements including negative TB test (annual) and proof of immunizations (MMR or rubella titer 1.8).
U.S. citizenship or legal work authorization required; candidates must clear the HHS OIG Exclusion List review.
Work ScheduleThe laboratory operates 24/7 including Federal Holidays.
Rotating 8-hour shifts (day evening night) with scheduled breaks.
Flexibility to work weekends holidays and cover additional shifts as needed.
Overtime may be available with prior authorization.
