PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Accountant/Financial Analyst is responsible for general accounting tasks and financial analysis with a focus on maintaining financial compliance with filing requirements while also providing data necessary for management decision-making. The Accountant/Financial Analyst will support the CFO and other leaders in carrying out the organizations financial responsibilities.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

  1. Perform monthly and annual general ledger closing processes including timely and accurate journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned accounts and activities.
  2. Assist in the preparation and distribution of financial statements and reports reviewing and explaining variances to budget and/or prior periods.
  3. Responsible for the accurate daily reconciliation of cash between the operational systems NetSuite and the banks.
  4. Support the grant accounting process by properly recording entries and updating analyses related to the grants.
  5. Prepare the Berea College Quarterly Utilization report.
  6. Perform provider incentive calculations for director review.
  7. Participate in the development of annual operating budget as well as budgeting processes for grant activities or new initiatives.
  8. Assist with the preparation of the organizations annual tax return (Form 990).
  9. Assist with preparation of the organizations annual cost report.
  10. Assist with the preparation of various governmental reports including the annual health center Uniformed Data Set.
  11. Support the annual financial and 401(k) audit processes by gathering requested documentation completing reconciliations and responding to requests from the audit team.
  12. Maintain monthly provider productivity spreadsheets and distribute as directed.
  13. Prepare invoices for subawards grants or contracts with outside agencies and institutions (ex. Berea College or University of Kentucky).
  14. Maintain fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules including on-going monitoring to ensure that additions and disposals are properly recorded. Complete periodic audit of fixed assets to maintain integrity of the fixed asset ledger.
  15. Act as backup for assigned accounts payable and payroll duties.
  16. Perform other analysis and prepare other reports as assigned or requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education:Baccalaureate degree in accounting finance business administration or related field.

Minimum Work Experience:Minimum of 1 year experience in an accounting or finance department. Preference given to candidates with healthcare experience.

Required License:None required. Preference given to Certified Public Accountants.

Qualifications

Successful applicants must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of accounting principles to support the organization including the ability to develop implement and administer budgets. Applicants should be adept at the manipulation of data using Excel Access and other technology solutions as well as the ability to build spreadsheets or graphs for understanding by the end user. Experience with NetSuite is a plus. Successful applicants must possess the ability to interpret data variances and evaluate accuracy of work. Candidates must be adept at planning and organization to prioritize activities and meet deadlines. Additionally the Accountant/Financial Analyst must exercise a high degree of initiative judgment and be able to communicate with a diverse group of individuals with various degrees of training/education. Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is essential.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed on-site in office environment and involves frequent contact with staff and occasionally the public. Evening and/or weekend work is required. Work may be stressful at times.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional travel between clinics; infrequent regional travel for conferences etc.

SALARY

Starting at $50000 based on experience.

WORK HOURS

40 hours per week (exempt from wage and hour laws; irregular schedule)
