  • Lead independent validation of enterprise-wide models across capital liquidity stress testing and financial crime
  • Influence model risk governance and uplift practices across the Group
  • Work with senior stakeholders and coach junior team members in a high-impact risk function

Whats the role

Were looking for a technically strong and strategically minded Senior Manager to lead independent validations of enterprise models across Westpac Group. Youll be hands-on in assessing model design methodology implementation and documentation - ensuring alignment with policy and regulatory standards.

Youll also play a key role in shaping the future of model risk including the growing use of AI in enterprise models. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across diverse risk classes and influence how model risk is managed at scale

This is a permanent fulltime role based in Sydney.

What do I need

To thrive in this role youll need:

  • Proven experience validating models in areas such as financial crime liquidity and stress testing
  • Strong programming skills (SAS SQL R or Python)
  • Ability to interpret regulatory standards and financial statements (including Pillar III reports)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Leadership experience and ability to mentor junior team members
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to challenge constructively
  • Interest in the business application of models and emerging technologies like AI
