Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Technician is responsible for the installation and configuration of technology-related equipment such as computers computer software monitors telephones ancillary equipment and basic networking equipment.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all-inclusive for specific positions.)

  • Support all team members in their proper use of technology.
  • Set up and install computing equipment and software. Ensure devices are communicating with network resources as needed.
  • Interview the user to collect information about the problem and lead user through diagnostic procedures to determine the source of the error.
  • Handles problem recognition research isolation resolution and follow-up for user problems.
  • Maintains and accomplishes an established Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedule for computer assets.
  • Follow the IT procedures and policies that regard computer and network usage.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues when presented by team members or assigned by the IT Director.
  • Create and maintain records of equipment placement. Record serial numbers of equipment and log all equipment when it is received and when it is deployed.
  • Install operating systems and software according to the policies set forth by the company.
  • Maintain confidential information and prohibit unauthorized access to or dissemination of any confidential or proprietary information.
  • Assist management with upholding industry compliant network security measures and controlling physical access to IT equipment and specifically the IT servers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Must have ability to:

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees customers and outside contacts;
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Move around all work areas effectively and efficiently;
  • Apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or graphic form; and
  • Lift IT equipment and run cables that may be under desks and/or counters.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED required;
  • Associate degree or similar two-year Technical degree in Computer Science or related area; or a minimum 6-month related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive familiarity with Windows operating systems;
  • Working knowledge of security software options and functionality preferred;
  • CompTIA A certification a plus;
  • Understanding of current personal computer technology and business applications;
  • Basic understanding of networking technologies;
  • Ability to install Windows operating systems and office automation applications such as Word and Excel;
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot computer issues in a timely manner;
  • Ability to use and maintain an IT trouble ticket system;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information;
  • Ability to present self in a professional pleasant confident and well-groomed manner;
  • Ability to perform basic math;
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records write reports and respond to correspondence;
  • Ability to work with the public and diverse departments and vendors; and
  • Ability to read write and communicate in English.

In addition to the other duties described herein each and every employee has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

  • Employment is contingent on receiving and maintaining adequate licensing including any required gaming license;
  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Spokane Tribe Casino;
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations;
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances regulations laws policies and procedures relating to the Casino;
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not encouraged or permitted to gamble or loiter in gambling areas drink alcoholic beverages or purchase tobacco products;
  • Refer to the Internal Control System and Policy Manuals for guidance;
  • Take the appropriate steps to report exceptions fraud acts of wrongdoing and potential violations of regulations or internal controls to the appropriate levels of management; and
  • Uphold high standards of ethical behavior demonstrate an understanding of the impacts of problem gambling and have knowledge of the Casinos programs to address problem gambling.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.   • Capable of working in an office environment but duties may require working in all casino facilities especially the Cage Slots and Casino floor where the position may experience moderate noise and secondary smoke;
  • Capable of working for extended periods of time at a work station performing tasks on computer and working with documents.
