Equitable is currently looking to hire a Paralegal within the Regulatory Affairs Practice Group which is a part of Equitables Legal and Compliance organization As a key member of the team this role would manage regulatory filings to state and federal regulators relating to provision of life insurance annuities and supplemental health benefits as well as filings and reports related to state lobbying activities. This includes gathering relevant information from internal stakeholders preparing such filings for submission and engaging with regulators with respect to such filings as required.

In addition the role will be responsible for assisting with the handling of state insurance department market conduct examinations and overall management of the Companys relationships with industry trade organizations including tracking Company representation within such groups as necessary to ensure appropriate representation.

As a Regulatory Affairs Paralegal the specific responsibilities include:

  • Track regulatory deadlines and develop processes to ensure that Company filings are submitted in a timely fashion to both state and federal regulators.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries related to such filings and engaging with internal stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and assist with the handling of state insurance department market conduct examinations and engaging with internal stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Management and oversight of the Companys relationships with industry organizations (e.g. coordinating representation on committees tracking budget impacts and qualitative analysis of effective use of resources).

The base salary range for this position is $85000 - $94000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills experience and geographical addition to base pay Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases spot bonuses and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years of paralegal/legal assistant experience in a law firm or corporate law department

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in finance business or a related discipline
  • Experience with life insurance products and the regulatory regimes (e.g. state insurance laws federal securities laws electronic commerce regulations) applicable to such products and/or state lobbying reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible and willing to respond to unanticipated issues and constantly reprioritize based on business demands
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to both think on your feet and think creatively
  • Professional energetic team-player with outgoing personality and positive attitude and outlook
