Essential Functions
Provide direct counseling services to students and administer student counseling services. Supervise manage and evaluate the counseling interns Provide training crisis intervention and guidance to staff in professional coaching student and personal wellbeing and active listening techniques Interpret and use psychological reports and psychometric information related to cognitive or mental health concerns that may affect student success and suggest services or strategies to cope with or overcome such concerns or impediments. Provide recommendations to the Director and Deans regarding a students suitability for enrollment as part of the Student Code of Conduct adjudication process. Implement and oversee systems for assuring follow-up with students especially when there is a threat of harm to self or others. Assists in monitoring a budget for the purpose of managing and planning the activities of specific projects and programs. Coordinate and plan ongoing outreach and promotion of counseling services as well as annual mental health and wellness awareness activities at various SCC locations. Work collaboratively to plan and develop leadership service learning and training opportunities for students including but not limited to alcohol and other drug awareness relationship violence bystander intervention resiliency mental and emotional well-being and interpersonal relationship skills. Serve as a liaison and provide training for Faculty and Staff concerning community resources and services available to students. Serve as needed on the colleges CARE (College Access to Resources for Excellence). The CARE team is SCCs Behavioral Intervention Team ( BIT ) to address students who are disruptive or potentially dangerous to themselves or others. Maintain confidentiality of student information records and documentation files. Promote a Culture of Belonging Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students faculty members and college employees feel welcomed valued and empowered to contribute. Foster a community where each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment. Support the Colleges policies and programming related to access fair employment and equal opportunities for all.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Counseling Psychology Social work Marriage or Family Therapy. Provisional Licensure as a Mental Health Practitioner in the state of Nebraska at the time of hire. Six months of full-time professional work experience providing counseling/mental health/clinical services.
