What Youll Do and Who We Are Looking For

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops modifies and maintains complex programs.
• Monitors the operation of assigned programs and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding.
• Develops special programs such as a critical path analysis program to assist in managing a special project.
• Reviews user requirements and needs for new software and performs analysis design implementation installation and training related to new software developed and/or acquired.
• Analyzes and plans systems based on consultations with PCC management and/or staff. Document system plan and establishes an implementation schedule.
• Designs and documents systems based on analysis results and further consultation with PCC management and staff.
• Develops data bases programs and procedures necessary to integrate and/or implement the system.
• Tests system fully to determine its operational reliability.
• Documents system for user department and ITS conforming to institutional standards.
• Assists user and operating areas in implementing and supporting systems including system installation training and troubleshooting.
• Carries out fact-finding and program analysis of problems; determines most appropriate procedures to resolve.
• Provides technical advice and support to users. This includes creating ad-hoc reports data analysis and correction training and problem solving.
• Assists in selecting hardware and software to be used by college staff.
• Maintains contact with vendors to assist support activities.
• Serves as technical advisor to user staff who do programming functions.
• May install modify and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems.
• Provides server support related to network software.
• May guide or provide work direction to lower level Programmer/Analysts other technical staff and/or student employees.
• Positions in this classification may perform all or some of the responsibilities above and all positions perform other related duties as assigned.

• Possess intermediate coding skills: The ability to develop modify and maintain complex programs and applications is essential.
• Experience with workday or similar ERP and completion of projects with metrics.
• Develop and maintain complex programs: Independently design write test and modify sophisticated applications and programs ensuring they meet user and system requirements.
• Troubleshoot effectively: Proactively monitor and resolve issues within assigned programs and systems providing technical advice and support to users when problems arise.
• Analyze and plan systems: Review user requirements and needs then analyze and plan the feasibility and implementation of new systems in consultation with PCC management and staff.
• Integrate and implement systems: Develop necessary databases programs and procedures to successfully integrate and implement new systems ensuring operational reliability through thorough testing.
• Provide user support: Assist users with system implementation training and troubleshooting offering technical guidance and creating ad-hoc reports and data analyses to address their needs.
• Demonstrate technical expertise: Serve as a technical advisor to other staff and assist in the selection of appropriate hardware and software.
• Experience in business analysis and requirements gathering.
• Experience with softwaredevelopmentlifecycles

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in computer related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Two years experience in complex systems design programming and systems software and support.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

• An in-depth variety of programming languages; a spectrum of equipment and technologies in use (oldest to newest).

Ability to:

• Perform feasibility studies and programming analysis; determine alternate program design approaches and facilitate most effective solution to meet user needs.
• Work independently and make necessary decisions throughout the systems process within department guidelines; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively; communicate technical and complex information both orally and in writing; provide effective training/coaching to others.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work environment includes typical computer related noise levels and paper and equipment generated dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis. Learned physical skill is required for keyboarding and use of peripheral equipment. Moderate lifting occasionally occurs.

How We Determine Initial Salary Placement

The first two steps of the range are: $75965.00 and $78242.00 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications experience and internal equity.
