The Golf Course at Hanbury Manor was designed by and built under the supervision of Jack Nicklaus II and Golden Bear Design Associates a leading US golf course design group.

The golf course has held numerous professional golf tournaments since opening. Our sports field has welcomed many international sports teams to practice before major events and our grounds have captured some of our guests most special days as an amazing back drop to any special occasion held at Hanbury Manor.

Job Summary

An exciting career opportunity has arisen to join the Greenkeeping and Estates team at Marriott Hanbury Manor. We are currently looking for a Senior Greenkeeper to join our team to help maintain and drive the standards of our championship golf course.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring the property grounds to ensure a pleasant appearance. Maintain lawns by mowing edging raking leaves and performing other lawn maintenance functions. Wash clean and re-fuel all equipment after use. Maintain flower beds baskets and boxes by watering removing weeds trimming and performing other maintenance. Remove and bag trash from all exterior trash cans. Maintain the appearance of fountains planters or other grounds features by cleaning replacing or making repairs. Maintain the appearance and safety of sidewalks driveways cart paths or parking lots by filling in cracks holes and making other repairs. Operate tractors trucks or utility vehicles to transport equipment and supplies.

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following attributes and qualifications:

• Full UK driving licence.
• Be self-motivated a team player with a positive can do and practical attitude.
• Ideally you will have at least 1-2 years previous experience in a broadly similar position.
• NVQ level 2 in sports turf would be advantage but not essential although a willingness to learn is a must.
• PA1 (Pa2 desirable) PA6 Spraying & basic chainsaw qualifications would be an advantage but not essential.
• A flexible approach to work is essential as you will be working on a rota system which will include some weekends.
• Must have the ability to produce a high standard of work as part of a team or alone.
• A desire to further their skills training and experiences in the turfgrass industry.

Applicants will be working directly under the guidance of the Head Greenkeeper and closely with the existing team to continue to present the course and estate to the highest possible standard. Work on the course will involve a variety of duties so this position requires an individual who is able to use their skills in all areas of course maintenance and construction when needed.
