Your Role as a Senior Care Assistant
As a Senior Care Assistant youll be at the heart of our service supporting residents and guiding our care team. Youll help individuals live independently take part in community life and enjoy meaningful days.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Care
- Support residents with personal care (washing dressing mobility toileting feeding).
- Promote independence dignity and choice.
- Administer medication safely (with training).
- Keep accurate records (care plans observations reports).
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor care assistants on shift.
- Allocate duties fairly and ensure high standards of care.
- Support training and development of new team members.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues families and healthcare professionals.
Health & Safety
- Monitor residents wellbeing and escalate concerns promptly.
- Respond to emergencies and safeguarding issues appropriately.
- Ensure infection control and health & safety standards are always maintained.
Qualifications :
Person Specification
- Genuine compassion empathy and patience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and responsibly
- Previous caregiving experience preferred (formal or informal)
- Flexibility to work in the clients home or care facility
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Care Assistant or Senior Care Assistant.
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
- Medication administration training/experience.
- Compassionate patient and reliable.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- First aid training.
- Knowledge of dementia safeguarding or palliative care.
- Experience in a supervisory role.
