Job Summary:
This Registered Nurse position focuses on providing skilled nursing care within a 25-bed medical-surgical unit specializing in urology and nephrology in an acute care Level I trauma center. The role requires collaboration with the interdisciplinary team managing a diverse patient population and utilizing advanced technical skills. Experience with telemetry various respiratory treatments and genitourinary/renal care is essential. The position involves working 4x12 or 3x12 night shifts (1845-0715) and rotating weekends.
Location: Springfield Illinois United States
Responsibilities:
- Providing direct patient care including assessments medication administration and treatment planning.
- Managing patients with urological and nephrological conditions including pre/post-hemodialysis management and renal failure care.
- Performing various procedures such as IV therapy (including blood product administration and central line blood draws) phlebotomy and managing PICC lines.
- Administering respiratory treatments (CPAP/BiPAP HFNC etc.) and managing chest tubes.
- Utilizing Cerner electronic health record system for documentation.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Floating to other medical-surgical units as needed.
- Working as Charge Nurse as needed.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical/surgical nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois.
- BLS certification.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
- Experience with telemetry rapid response teams and various respiratory treatments.
- Skill in managing genitourinary/renal cases including pre/post-hemodialysis management.
- Experience with IV therapy phlebotomy and blood product administration.
- Proficiency in medication administration including heparin.
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care.
- Experience with Cerner EHR.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in a Level I trauma center.
- Experience with various types of IV lines (PICC lines etc.).
Special Considerations:
- Night shift (1845-0715) 4x12 or 3x12 schedule.
- Rotating weekends required.
- Floating to other medical-surgical units within the facility.
- On-call is not required.
- Up to 36 hours of call-offs permitted per 13-week assignment without pay; additional call-offs will be billed.
- Client may place candidate on-call in lieu of call-off; this counts as a called-off shift.
- RTO restrictions: ideally no more than 5 days.
- First-time travel nurses are accepted provided they have a solid foundation as an RN.
- Must have an active IL RN license or be in the application process.
Scheduling:
- 4x12 or 3x12 hour night shifts (1845-0715).
- Rotating weekends.
- Block scheduling will be attempted but is not guaranteed.
