Resident Engineer Construction Manager

Our client a leading engineering organisation is currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced Resident Engineer/Construction Manager to join their team. This is a contract position at a senior level requiring a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Preference will be given to candidates with Water & Sanitation experience specifically in reservoir or water retaining structures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering (. or . Eng) or Bachelor of Technology degree in Engineering (. Eng) in a relevant discipline or
• Diploma in Engineering (.) in a relevant discipline with appropriate experience.

Registrations:

• Registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) or SACPCMP (South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions).
• Labour Intensive Construction NQF Level 5 or 7.

Salary:

The salary for this position is negotiable and will be in the range of R60000 to R100000 per month depending on qualifications and experience.

Area:

This position is project-based and will be located in the Free State region.

Contract Period:

The initial contract period is 12 months with the possibility of extension.

Duties:

As a Resident Engineer/Construction Manager your key responsibilities and duties will include:

• Managing and overseeing all aspects of construction projects ensuring compliance with design specifications safety regulations and quality standards.
• Providing technical expertise and guidance to the project team including contractors subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Monitoring project progress resolving any technical issues and ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
• Conducting regular inspections and site visits to assess construction quality and progress.
• Managing project resources including labor equipment and materials to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution.
• Collaborating with project stakeholders to establish project goals objectives and deliverables.
• Preparing and reviewing project documentation including plans specifications and progress reports.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant industry codes standards and regulations.
• Conducting regular project meetings to provide updates address concerns and coordinate activities.
• Managing project risks and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
• Leading and supervising project teams providing guidance and support to achieve project objectives.
• Ensuring effective communication and coordination with clients consultants and other project stakeholders.
• Maintaining accurate project records and documentation including change orders variations and as-built drawings.
• Monitoring and evaluating contractor performance ensuring adherence to contract terms and specifications.
• Overseeing health and safety practices on-site promoting a safe working environment.
