About the Role
We are seeking an Underwriting Operations Manager to join our North America Underwriting Services team in our newly created Everest Business Center in Dallas. Our team serves as the essential backbone for the underwriting function driving efficiency accuracy and ultimately contributing to a better experience for our brokers and clients throughout the commercial insurance lifecycle. This is a hybrid role based in our Dallas office (3 days in office/2 days remote).
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
Leading a team of local Operations associates who provide critical support for NA Insurance across Property Casualty and Financial Lines of business.
Acting as the local leader for the Dallas Underwriting Services team by driving team building engagement and inclusion for all Underwriting Assistant roles within the office.
Leveraging data to drive the day-to-day production of all assigned tasks including Ratings Policy Issuance and Mid-term Endorsements. You will reprioritize and/or reassign work as needed to consistently achieve established SLAs.
Utilizing continuous improvement methodology to root cause problem-solve and drive process improvement opportunities when the situation warrants.
Contributing as a key player in the automation journey helping to define when tasks should be escalated to a team member for review and balancing efficiency with the need for intervention to optimize elevate and scale AI models.
Developing and fostering relationships with internal stakeholders which includes collaborating to gather requirements resolve issues and ensure seamless integration and support.
Overseeing responses to Quality Audits within the group and proactively monitoring the team to ensure execution against Audit criteria.
Driving Change Management and following through on key initiatives and priorities. This includes contributing to technology advances and/or new system functionality or enhancements that impact workflow execution.
Ensuring staff meet the core competencies and skills needed to deliver quality service.
Guaranteeing that training materials are developed and implemented and that staff are trained to support the delivery of products and services.
Developing implementing and refining standardized workflow procedures including identifying best practices to drive operational excellence.
Managing all aspects of team supervision including hiring leading coaching and developing the team to achieve performance goals and service metrics with guidance from management.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent business experience.
A minimum of 3 years of commercial insurance experience.
A minimum of 2 years experience in a prior leadership role.
A demonstrated ability to motivate and lead agile high-performing and engaged teams.
A proven track record of delivery of key performance indicators and driving accountability within the team.
Exceptional skills with Microsoft Excel including the use of Pivot tables formulas data cleansing and analysis.
Experience working in matrixed and virtual team environments is a plus.
Experience with managing through change and process improvement and leveraging technology to drive change.
A strong data-driven analysis planning and problem-solving mindset.
Knowledge Skills & Competencies
Demonstrated knowledge of commercial insurance policy life cycle terminology processing and procedures.
Experience working with non-admitted and admitted business including awareness of regulatory and compliance impact to policy life cycle execution.
Strong problem solving critical thinking and analytical skills.
Ability to root cause problem solve and drive accountability for executional delivery.
Excellent coaching and communication skills: verbal written and interpersonal.
Strong customer service focus; meeting and exceeding expectations.
Agility: navigate ambiguity while muti-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to work in a result-oriented service environment.
Intellectual curiosity to delve into and solution various business problems.
Passion for collaboration encouraging diversity of thought.
High sense of ownership urgency execution and accountability.
The base salary range for this position is $100000 - $120000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education experience qualifications and work location.
