Part-Time lecturer for DF2001 Film Editing

The School of Art Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University Singapore invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-Time Lecturer for DF2001 Film Editing. The Part-Time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate core course commencing in January 2026.

DF2001 Film Editing is a 13-week film course were students will be introduced to the elements of editing using techniques to convey meaning and narrative through a combination of film theoretical analysis and hands-on experience with editing. The course will examine the various concepts of assembling images and sound as cinema has evolved and also the creative aspects of editing. The learning developed in this course provides a foundation for further learning in filmmaking.

Applicants to this position will be able to demonstrate expertise in overseeing the audio aspect of students projects related to digital filmmaking from initial concept screenwriting production and post-production to the final sound mix. Applicants will be able to demonstrate passion in guiding students in exploring the possibilities of audio for film in a variety of forms which may include traditional scripted filmmaking serialized content non-scripted content and short-format videos.

Successful candidates will have a relevant Masters and/or PhD in audio or related field with a track record of creative practice in film production. Past teaching experience at Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelors degree in Film Production or related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience may also be considered in exceptional cases.
