Position OverviewThe Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for managing organizing and maintaining patient health records in compliance with federal state and organizational regulations. This role ensures the accuracy accessibility and confidentiality of patient medical information while proactively engaging with field clinicians to ensure timely submission of documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Collect review and maintain patient medical records (electronic and paper-based).
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA state and federal regulations regarding confidentiality and record retention.
- Act as the main point of contact for field clinicians reminding and following up to ensure timely submission of required paperwork and clinical documentation.
- Track outstanding records and provide regular status updates to management.
- Audit records for accuracy completeness and compliance with documentation standards.
Support clinical staff by retrieving and providing medical records promptly.
- Assist with quality assurance programs and participate in regulatory inspections or audits.
Qualifications - High school diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelors in Health Information Management preferred.
- 2 years of experience in medical records management or health information systems.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow up diplomatically but firmly with clinicians in the field.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
