Were seeking a Medical Assisting Externship Coordinator to help students successfully transition from the classroom to hands-on training at healthcare this role youll manage all aspects of the Medical Assisting externship process from securing and maintaining employer partnerships to placing students on time to ensuring compliance and documentation are complete for students to complete their program. Most importantly youll play a key role in converting externship opportunities into job offers for students directly impacting their career success and the colleges employment outcomes.
- Build and maintain a network of healthcare externship sites that prioritize hiring students after completion.
- Place students on time into externships that align with their program start dates.
- Monitor attendance hours and completion to ensure students graduate on schedule.
- Conduct site visits and evaluations to ensure quality learning environments and support both students and site supervisors.
- Maintain accurate real-time documentation in the Student Information System to meet accreditation and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with Career Services Advisors to align externships with future employment opportunities.
- Assist in generating job orders and employment opportunities for Medical Assisting students that do not get hired from externship.
- Represent the college with professionalism at employer sites community events and career fairs.
- Extern-to-Hire Conversion: At least 50% of externship students receive job offers (goal: 70%).
- On-Time Placement: 100% of students begin externships with their scheduled module.
- Completion Rate: 95% of students complete all required externship hours and evaluations.
- Employer & Student Satisfaction: Positive feedback on quality of placements and college partnerships.
Qualifications :
- Completion of a Medical Assisting program and 3 years of work experience as a Medical Assistant; equivalent healthcare experience considered.
- 2 years in project coordination community outreach employer relations or career services preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for regular site visits.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with student information systems or CRMs a plus.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards (ABHES ACCSC) and healthcare workforce trends preferred.
