Job Description:
Position: Community Resource Facility (CRF) Support Worker
Objective: To ensure that the proper supervision and support is given to each CSC client as required by The Salvation Army The Correctional Service of Canada and funding policies and procedures.
Supervision: The CRF Support Worker tasks will be directly supervised by the Manager Community Resource Facility
Qualifications:
Education:
- Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in Criminology or related courses (first year) towards a diploma from a recognized college or university preferred but not essential
- Good communication skills
- Current First Aid/CPR or willingness to be trained
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or willingness to be trained
Experience:
None required however preference will be given to applicants with a correctional or social service background or related experience
Responsibilities:
- To enforce house rules to residents
- To assist in the logging in and out of CSC clients; to spot-check when appropriate or required residents whereabouts and communicate the results of this in the log book
- To do bed checks and security rounds and to document this in the CSC Duty Log and to communicate regularly with the CRF Manager Caseworkers and Parole Officers on client concerns
- To pack and inventory client effects
- To assist with properly storing and recording client medications
- To contact the RDO when necessary and to document situation and circumstances in the CSC Duty Log
- To fill out UAL form & fax to VPD when necessary
- To distribute meal tickets to residents as per current procedure
- To maintain confidential (Protected B ) resident documentation; sharing information only as it is required to ensure the safety of staff and other residents
- To properly file all CSC documents in a secure location
- To establish good working relationships with Parole Officers CRF staff police and other personnel working within the Correctional field
- To intake new clients in the event of Caseworker absence
- To prepare blank intake document packages
- To attend as required case conferences.
- To assist in conducting room searches as necessary
- To provide as necessary wake up calls for clients
- To assist with distributing funds when necessary
- To perform other relevant duties as required by the Manager Community Resource Facility
- To demonstrate compassion in the administration of policies and procedures and to support where and when possible the efforts of all residents and co-workers. Interactions with all peoples must be respectful honest and caring. Assertiveness is not to be construed as aggressiveness and mannerisms must reflect desired behaviour. Employees are expected to take appropriate corrective action and report conditions which may negatively impact the facilitys fundamental values or physical assets.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $25.10 to $25.35 with a maximum of $25.60.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
