3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Job Purpose
As a Childrens Social Worker in the Referral and Assessment team you will be the first point of statutory social work intervention for children in need or at risk. Youll carry out robust Child and Family Assessments manage Section 47 investigations and make timely and appropriate decisions regarding further intervention or closure.
You will work in a fast-paced supportive environment assessing immediate risk and need while building positive relationships with children and families.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory Child and Family Assessments under the Children Act 1989
Complete Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries as required
Make clear evidence-based decisions about levels of risk and the required next steps
Provide short-term support and interventions where appropriate
Work closely with Early Help Education Health and partner agencies to ensure a coordinated response
Prepare clear and concise reports for Child Protection Conferences Legal Proceedings and Looked After Reviews
Manage a varied and sometimes complex caseload
Ensure all case recording is accurate and timely in line with organisational policies and procedures
Requirements
A professional qualification in Social Work (BA/MA Social Work DipSW CQSW or equivalent)
Social Work England registration
Post-qualification experience in Childrens Social Care ideally within a referral/assessment or safeguarding setting
Good knowledge of relevant legislation including Working Together to Safeguard Children Children Act 1989/2004 and London Child Protection Procedures
Proven ability to undertake effective assessments and manage risk
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A reflective resilient and evidence-informed approach to practice
The ability to work collaboratively under pressure and meet deadlines
Commitment to equality diversity and inclusion in practice
