The Work Unit:
The Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division (HFEMSD) is responsible for the oversight and enforcement of a broad range of federal and state statutes and regulations applicable to a wide variety of healthcare facilities and services in Colorado including hospitals clinics ambulatory surgical facilities renal dialysis centers emergency medical services providers designated and non-designated trauma centers long term care facilities and many other specific types of healthcare services. The division licenses certifies and surveys healthcare facilities and services; provides patient safety and healthcare quality programs; recognizes emergency medical service (EMS) education programs; certifies EMS providers and licenses air ambulance services operating within the state.
Summary of Position:
This position provides support to the licensure and certification programs that are responsible for regulatory activities related to Medicare and Medicaid federal and state certification as well as state licensing. This position processes a high volume of complex licensure and certification actions to ensure both compliance with standards and the accurate transfer of data from one system to another. This position implements procedures and guidelines established for the work unit and assists with the development and implementation of the work units goals and objectives consistent with statutory authority and supporting the Departments mission and goals. This position must be proficient in Word Excel and Google applications including drive docs sheets and forms. This position is responsible for supporting the electronic application for licensure and survey as well as responding to frequently asked questions from providers. The information and situations presented in this role can be complex. This position troubleshoots and reports to the work unit supervisor and program manager problems with the processing of transactions related to healthcare providers for licensure and certification surveys. This position tests system changes explain system functionality rules and procedures to others. This position works directly with the work lead(s) supervisor survey programs and management to accomplish all required duties.

EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience tracking and processing licensure and certification actions or similar applications while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Associates degree or higher education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Examples would be:
- graduation from an accredited institution with an associates degree.

Conditions of Employment:
A pre-employment background check
Must be available in the event of an emergency (e.g. bio-terrorist attack chemical attack disease outbreak or all hazards) and be required to report to workimmediately at the regular or alternate location.
Must be available in the event of the activation of the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and be required to report to work immediately at the regular or alternate location.
This position will have hybrid workplace options available but will still be required to report to the listed address at the discretion of the supervisor and based on business need. *Please note: These working arrangements are subject to change based on CDPHEs business needs. The position will be expected to work on site when needed at 4300 S Cherry Creek Dr Glendale CO 80246.
Office hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Extended hours during the evening or the weekend MAY be required by business needs.
A remote (home) office is required.
5% travel required within the State of Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred experience competencies and abilities listed below are highly desirable for this position and will be considered in selecting the successful candidate.
Experience working in a regulatory setting with the ability to read interpret and comply with complex state and federal regulations and statutes as well as policies and procedures
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience and ability to work with Microsoft programs such as Word Excel and Google Applications including the ability to create manage and utilize files and documents in Google Drive
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to effectively manage and resolve conflicts confrontations and disagreements in a positive and constructive way
Strong analytical and reasoning skills
Ability to review and compare documents with great detail recognizing errors or missing information while comparing multiple documents
Accurate/speedy data processing skills
Thoroughness when performing work and conscientiousness in attention to detail.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of individuals;
Ability to use sound judgement investigative skills and internal process documents and resources to process complex licensure and certification action that are often incomplete or require additional research.
Ability to ensure the correct transfer of data from one system to another both automated and manual
Ability to respond to a high volume of frequently asked questions from providers about certification and licensure
Ability to explain systems rules and procedures to others and work directly with healthcare providers and management
Ability to use information technology to communicate manage knowledge mitigate errors and support decision-making.
Self-starter who is organized and multi-task oriented;
